Description
Event HQ: Steeple village hall, open from 2pm. Access is down the road directly opposite the “Star” pub, taking the first left turn. Parking is adequate but not especially generous, so please park economically.

Course E21/10:
START at 'St. Lawrence' sign (M.R. 947033) on Bradwell Road, 0.5 miles east of Steeple. Proceed eastwards (road becomes B1021 at former 'Queens Head' P.H. Bradwell). Beyond this, take third lane on right (M), to 'T' junction where left (M). Left again at next junction (M) and left again (M) to re-emerge onto B1021 westbound. Retrace outward route, past start, to FINISH at drain opposite T.P.1, just east of Stangate Road, Steeple (M.R. 942032).
*****************************
To reach the start, turn left when leaving the hall & facing the Star pub. It is a 2 - 3 minute ride.
Once underway you are unlikely to be hindered by traffic, but care should be taken to minimise congestion at the start / finish points by the following precautions:
A) No 'U' turns in the vicinity of the start or finish points. Any riders reported carrying out this dangerous manoeuvre are liable for disqualification from the event and further disciplinary action by the district committee.
B) Please do not warm up on the course once the event is underway, there are ample alternative quiet roads.
C) Please DO NOT spill across the road while waiting to start. Please stand on the grass verge until called to the line.
D) DO NOT stop at the finish.
NUMBERS AND SIGNING ON WILL BE AT THE EVENT HQ

CYCLE HELMETS: In the interest of your own safety Cycling Time Trials recommend that you wear a HARD SHELL HELMET that meets internationally accepted safety standards. All juniors and/or riders under the age of 18 years are required to wear a suitable approved helmet.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A WORKING REAR LIGHT, EITHER FLASHING OR CONSTANT, IS FITTED TO THE MACHINE IN A POSITION VISIBLE TO FOLLOWING ROAD USERS AND IS ACTIVE WHILST THE
MACHINE IS IN USE.
Note to parents of GHS riders:
There are several novice riders in the field. Would parents of these riders please impress upon them that the role of the marshals is simply to point the way. They are not permitted to control traffic in any way.
Parental Consent Forms
Any parents who have not yet completed and signed a parental consent form for this event must do so prior to the event start. Any rider without the appropriate consent forms will not be permitted to ride in this event. If your son/daughter is traveling to the event with friends we are unable to accept their signature in place of that of the parents.
COURSE NOTES:
1) Turn: The four junctions at the turn are all very quiet, however you must be prepared to GIVE WAY at all of them. No exceptions.
2) Turn: Exiting third left hand corner. The owner of the cottage on this corner sometimes parks his car on the road just beyond the exit of this junction. This is perfectly legal and is not a problem if you are looking where you are going. WHEN
APPROACHING THIS CORNER WHERE YOU HAVE TO GIVE WAY YOU WILL BE CHECKING THERE IS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO THE RIGHT, DO NOT PRESUME IT IS CLEAR TO THE LEFT.
3) The road surface is a little rough for about 200 meters at the six mile point, towards the end of the “tree tunnel” on the return leg. It is highly unlikely to throw you or damage a wheel, but it is best to be aware.
4) Please do not warm up on the course after 3pm. A good alternative is Stangate Lane (left turn just beyond Steeple on the way to the start). It is narrow but well surfaced & traffic free.
5) The finish is not opposite the start. When you pass the start on the return trip you will still have about another minute of riding to reach the finish.
