PROPOSED “10” course START at drain 5 yards from A272 in large entrance to fields, 60 yards west of western set of Traffic lights at Buck Barn/West Grinstead crossroads. Go west on A272 to Coolham crossroads, where left 2.72 2.72 on B2139 to Dan Hill crossroads, where left 2.16 4.88 on B2133 to Billingshurst Road R/B, Ashington 2.39 7.27 where 2nd left and stay in left-hand lane to join A24 north to southern entrance to Dial Post, where left 1.99 9.26 to Swallows Lane, Dial Post, where left 0.46 9.72 to FINISH 0.13 mile north of metal sign for New Barn Farm on left and 0.28 10.00 16 yards south of wooden pole on the right. Finish is 89 yards south of start of descent to finish of G.50/10 course. This course was used for club events 1997-2002 until McDonalds was built and our start was replaced by the traffic lights west of the crossroads. With the large entrance to a huge field west of the lights, there is now an alternative start. Traffic count carried out, 1900-1915, Monday 6/8/2018, 152 per hour. Dial Post village hall, inexpensive, with plenty of parking, is 2 miles by road from the start and within half a mile of the finish. It is accepted that the radius between start and finish exceeds the limit of reg. 35 on p. 349 of the handbook but its sanction for club events has drawn interest from Crawley Whs.
