This last week of racing a training has been eventful with my first win of the season and a new Junior Women Competition record!
My last race in Holland was Arch van chaam ,a kermesse for junior women . The race started at 10:00 am and was 36km. After two laps no riders had got away but riders were trying to attack off the front. I attacked and a rider came with me, we had a gap but not a big one. I decided to try a solo effort so I pushed on and soon got a 30 second gap. The km passed by and this race turned into a time trial. The gap came back to 26 seconds and then out to 40 seconds and then by over a minute at the finish. My first win of the season!
Traveling back from Holland I stopped over for the Jadan V718 time trial. Spinning my legs out Saturday morning on a road ride I could tell there was a breeze and today would not be the fastest day. However I know I was in with a chance of breaking the Junior Women Competition record set by Abby May Parkinson and Amira Mellor last year with a 21:11.
Setting off on the time trial I knew I wanted to average 29 mph. With the wind on my back on the shorter outward leg I was on target. Coming back on the return leg it was a head wind with more elevation and a longer distance.
There was nothing for it , it was a case on pressing on and counting down the miles. Crossing the finish line I had clocked 20:21 which was a new Junior Women Competition record and a Personal best time. It was special to break the record at a Jadan event , as I rode for them last season and am grateful for the encouragement from Victoria Hood and Scott Burns who gave me a rear wheel mechanical help and a lend of a ADR carbon tri spoke . My next time trial is the national 25 mile championships. I am looking forward to representing Team Ford Ecoboost!
