The following three people have been awarded with the CTT's highest award thus far in 2024

  • Maggie Smith (London West). Maggie received her Award for her many years' service at a VTTA London & Home Counties function. Maggie had served principally as the District Treasurer, but she held other roles within the DC for over 30 years. District Chairman John Hoskins commented that Maggie "will be sorely missed, a true stalwart of our sport". Maggie added that she still intends to attend as many events as she can.

  • Betty has contributed almost her entire life to time trialing, mainly as a Timekeeper. In almost 60 years she had timed at countless events, national, open and club, in all kinds of weather. Betty stated that she has "loved every minute!". Betty joins her Son Mark, who is Yorkshire DC Treasurer and the recipient of the Gold Badge in 2013, as the only Mother and Son to receive the Award. At the time of the Presentation, Betty was too ill to attend the Yorkshire Cycling Federation function. Cycling Time Trials wishes Betty a speedy recovery

  • Peter Rogers (West). Peter was presented with his Gold Badge at the recent RTTC National TTT Championships held in his District. When another DC Committee member was asked how many years Peter had served on their Committee, the reply "Cor Blimey, he was here long before me!", and the person questioned had served over twenty years! Upon receiving the Award, Peter added that he "'was speechless' and that it was a great honour for something I love doing". Peter has also organised several National Championships held in the rugged West DC landscape over the years. A former CTT Board Director, Peter was also instrumental in writing the CTT's Milestones Ranking system, which sets targets for Juvenile and Junior riders at different age categories, especially the short distance events.
