Prestigious honours are up for grabs this weekend when the country’s top time trialists gather in Scotland for the National 25-mile Championship.
Looking to make it a treble of national titles Adam Duggleby (ADDFORM Vive Le Velo) will look to continue his unbeaten form which include both 100 and 50-mile titles.
The Leeds-based rider heads to Brechin in Scotland after recording a lifetime best 46-04 in last weekend’s Manchester Bicycle Club 25 last weekend.
A field of 96 men are set to compete in the Dundee Thistle event on the out and back course along the A19 between Forfar and Brechin early on Sunday morning.
Spindata has backed Michael Gill (HUUB Wattshop) for victory after the 25-year-old posted a winning time of 17-40 to win the Chronos RT 10 last month.
George Peden (Team PB Performance) is also tipped to challenge for honours after posting 46-57 to win the VTTA East Mids 25 in June.
With last year’s champion Christopher Fennell absent Oliver Peckover (trainSharp) is hoping to go one better than his second-place last season.
Tipped to also be within medal contention are the likes of Joe Laverick (Ribble Cycles) and Alex Pritchard (HUUB WattShop).
Reigning women’s champion Kelly Murphy is also absent and Kate Allan (Team Bottrill) will be hoping to clinch the title after going close 12 months ago.
Allan, from Berkshire, crashed out of the national 50-mile championship last month but made a strong return clocking 51-51 in the Virtual Cycling Club 25 two weeks ago.
Team Bottrill bring a strong team to Scotland with National 50 and 100 champion Emily Martin joined by Alex Clay and Kim Barfoot-Brace.
Looking to take victory on home soil is Joanna Patterson, from Renfrewshire, who clocked 20-26 in the ECCA 10 last month but has not competed in an open event over 25 miles this season.
A small but strong field are set to compete in the juniors’ event with Patrick Casey (Anexo Group Race Team) and Lewis Dey (RT 23) set to compete in the boys’ event.
The junior girls’ event will see juvenile Abbey Thompson (Stonham Barns Park – SYRT) compete against juniors Sophie Heighton (Ferryhill Whs) and Evelyn Field (JRC Interflon Race Team).
Elsewhere in the country a big field are set to compete for honours in the Cambridge CC 15 event on Saturday afternoon.
Veteran Paul Burton (Paceline RT) starts as last man having won seven open time trial events already this season.
With 113 riders competing for victory Spindata predicts that Burton will post 28-44 to take victory, with little to separate Liam Maybank (Twickenham CC), Sam McDonald (St Neots CC), Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined Rule 5) and Luca Morrone (Onyx RT).
Heading the women’s entry is fellow veteran Angela Carpenter (...a3crg) who will be competing against the likes of team-mate Claire Emons and Louise Robinson (Essex Roads CC).
After competing in the National 25-mile Championship the previous day Kate Allan (Team Bottrill) is set to line-up in Sunday’s Tyneside Vagabonds CC 100.
She will meet Erica Booth (Lancashire RC) in the women’s event, while national 24-hour champion Robbie Mitchell (Auchencrow Thistle CC) is the last male starter.
Also on Sunday, a big field of 96 competitors are set to battle for bragging rights in the Royal Dean Forest CC 25.
Andy Critchlow (Paceline RT) has been on stellar form this season and is tipped by Spindata for victory in 47-34, while Conrad Moss (Nopinz) and Christopher Gibbard (Bynea Cycling Club) are expected to have another close battle.
In the women’s event there could be little to separate Christina Murray (Army Cycling) and Claire Emons (...a3crg) with Spindata predicting four seconds between their times.
Bank Holiday Monday also gives a chance for more action with Andy Critchlow set to compete against Paceline RT team-mate Paul Burton and Christopher McNamara (Sigma Sports | Cannondale RT) in the …A3crg 10.
The women’s event also sees a strong field with Sally Turner (HUUB WattShop) starting last against the likes of Claire Emons (...A3crg( and Lisa Davies (Drag2Zero).
