Long distance specialists come to the fore this weekend, with the National 24-Hour Championship being staged by Mersey Roads Club on roads near the England/Wales border near Whitchurch and Wrexham.

Past champions are among the entrants at this year’s event, although neither of last year’s title winners will compete therefore guaranteeing new names on the roll of honour.

2019 and 2021 winner and competition record holder Christina Murray (Army Cycling) will be aiming for a third victory in the women’s event, while 2021 champion Robbie Mitchell (Auchencrow Thistle CC) is the last man off.

Others to look out for in the field include multiple national 10, 25, 50, 100 and 12-hour champion Michael Hutchinson (Arctic Aircon RT) who is tackling a 24-hour event for the first time, while long distance specialist Chris Hopkinson (API Anglia Sport) and Lee Williams (Fulfil the Potential Race Team) will be worth watching out for.

Elsewhere it’s the North Lancashire TTA 100-Mile Championship in Cumbria on Sunday, with Team Bottrill’s Tom Hutchinson tipped by Spindata to take the win.

Others to look out for include Velotik RT colleagues David Parkin and David James Williams, as well as Marcel Schubert (Darlington CC). Joanna Patterson (Wahoo Le Col) is expected to go under the four-hour mark and be fastest female, while Kim Barfoot-Brace (Team Bottrill) could push her for the win.

Swindon Wheelers and Swindon Road Club team up to organise Sunday’s 50-mile event in Wiltshire, part of the Western TTA Hardriders Series.

Jake Sargent (Team Bottrill) looks nailed on for the win barring misfortune, while Simone Mitchell (a3crg) should be fastest female.

It’s the Eastern Counties 10-Mile Championship on Saturday in Cambridgeshire, where HUUB-WattShop will be going for the double win with Will Lowden and Jennifer George tipped to take victories.

Others to watch for include Andy Critchlow (Paceline RT) and Piotr Zulawski (Cambridge CC), as well as Joanna Patterson (Wahoo Le Col) and Angela Carpenter (a3crg).

The Sherwood CC 10 on Saturday afternoon looks to be a three-way battle between George Peden (Team PB Performance), Oliver Peckover (trainSharp) and National 50 and 100-Mile champion Adam Duggleby (ADDFORM-Vive le Velo) all tipped by Spindata to go under 19 minutes.

Elsewhere on Sunday it’s the Barnesbury CC 25-mile event near Cramlington in Northumberland, while north of the border GTR-Return to Life are holding a 31.5-mile four-up event near Irvine.

ADDFORM-Vive le Velo stage a 25-mile event in East Yorkshire, while East Anglian VTTA are holding a 25-mile event on the popular F2a/25 course near Cambourne in Cambridgeshire.
