Ross-on-Wye and District CC are hosting two time trials in South Wales this weekend, while there are plenty of other events across the country which have attracted quality fields.
Saturday’s 10-mile event uses the R10/17 course near Raglan in Monmouthshire and looks set to be a close battle between Welsh junior ace Finlay Tarling (Willebrord Wil Vooruit) and Tom Ward (Ward Performance UK).
The women’s field looks strong too, with AeroCoach rider Jessica Rhodes-Jones expected to prove fastest by national ranking system Spindata.
Ward and Tarling will be riding Sunday’s 25-mile event on the nearby R25/7 at Usk, but also in the mix is Richard Bussell (AeroCoach) who will take some beating.
And a close battle is expected in the women’s category between Diana Egerton-Warburton (Team Enable-MI Racing) and Emma Wyatt (Hereford and District Wheelers).
Both Ross-on-Wye and District CC events include road bike categories too.
Elsewhere Cambridge CC were due to host the VTTA 15-Mile Championship near Cambourne on Saturday - but forecasts of bad weather have forced organisers to postpone it until August 26.
It’s a busy weekend on the roads of North Yorkshire this weekend with Yorkshire Cycling Federation staging their 50-mile event on Saturday afternoon, while VTTA Yorkshire host a 10-mile event near Dishforth on Sunday morning.
Saturday’s 50-miler has Darlington CC rider Marcel Schubert down to ride as well as David Brearley (ADDFORM-Vive le Velo) and Vector Racing’s Keith Murray, while Trek Sheffield rider Josie Smith is tipped to be top female.
And the VTTA Yorkshire 10 on Sunday looks set to be a battle between Toby Williams (Velotik RT) and Mark Walker (Velo Sport Racing), with a close battle expected for the women’s prize between Vanessa Barker (Hull Thursday RC), Sarah Harrison (Trek Sheffield) and Angela Hannon-Flaherty (Seacroft Wheelers).
Jack Levick (Rose Race Team) is listed as pre-race favourite at the Shaftesbury CC 50 on Sunday, with Chris Gibbard (Bynea CC) and Tom Hutchinson (Team Bottrill) also in the mix, while Emily Robertson (Bedfordshire Road CC) and Claire Emons (a3crg) are among the top women taking part.
Elsewhere the picturesque hills of Northumberland are the stage for the Allen Valley Velo 24.8-mile event on Sunday, while in Norfolk it’s the Godric CC 25-mile event.
And Southern Counties CU are holding a 100-mile event on Sunday with Tim McEvoy (Fulfil the Potential Racing) listed as pre-race favourite alongside Simone Mitchell (a3crg) in the women’s event.
