The top-ranked rider so far this season, Ashley Cox of Team Bottrill heads to Tempsford this Sunday, chasing glory at the Bedfordshire Roads CC 25-mile time trial.

Kim Barfoot-Brace

Leading the national time trial rankings provided by Spindata, Cox is expected to break the 48-minute mark on his way to victory on the F1 course, while veteran Richard Oakes (Team Ohten Aveas) and Ross Clarke (TMG Horizon CT) will provide stiff opposition.

Of the women, fastest looks like being AS Test Team’s Anastasia Bowler.

Also on Sunday there are two 50-mile events – the Cardiff 100 Miles RCC 50-miler as well as the Congleton CC 50.

Anthony Jones (VMCC powered by Y Beic) is top of the predicted times on Spindata for the Cardiff RCC event near Abergavenny, while Alex Royle (Manchester BC) is expected to challenge, while Kim Barfoot-Brace (Bath CC) looks set to take the women’s prize.

Congleton CC’s 50 uses the J4/9 course near Cranage in Cheshire, and expected to take the win by a comfortable five minute margin is Jack Levick (Rose RT). It’s looking much closer for the minor placings, with Spindata’s predictions having the next three riders separated by just 18 seconds.

Portsmouth North End CC are staging a 25-mile event near Wickham in Hampshire on Sunday, with road bike and time trial bike categories.

Pat Wright (Paceline RT), Paul Jones (Primera-TeamJobs) and Simon Berogna (VC St Raphael) are all expected to fare well in the TT event, with Emma O’Toole (Nopinz Motip RT) the pick of the women.

And in the road bike event GS Stella veteran Dave Dent and Malcolm Cox (VC St Raphael) look likely to battle it out for the fastest time.

Elsewhere, Cleveland Coureurs and the VTTA North are hosting the Teesside District Championship 25-mile event at Crathorne in North Yorkshire, where Adam Duggleby (Chapeau! Vive le Velo) is expected to take the win with Calum Gibb (Deeside Thistle CC) not far behind.

The women’s title will be a close contest, with Spindata suggesting a close battle between Helen Goldthorpe (Otley CC), Karen Taylor (Team Sportslab) and Caroline Ratcliff (Ferryhill Wheelers).

Other events to look out for this weekend include the Tetbury Velos 10 in Wiltshire, the Giant Helston 25 in Cornwall, as well as the Oxonian CC 10 near Kingston Bagpuize and the Kennoway RC 10 in East Renfrewshire.

Saturday’s events include the Pendle Forest CC 10 on the Levens course in Cumbria, as well as the City Cycle Couriers 10 in Devon and the Hart Performance Coaching Summer Classic on the 10-mile Leaden Roding course in Essex.
