It has been agreed by the CTT board that Martyn Heritage-Owen and Andrea Parish will be responsible for the evaluation of alternative Timing Applications for use in both Type A and Type B Events. We (MHO & AP) will be producing the Evaluation Criteria to be applied to any such proposed systems. We are now inviting submissions of systems which are either currently in use in Type B events, or look suitable for our application. At this first stage we ask that anyone who is using a system in Type B events should submit to us as many details as are available along with any offers to work with us in evaluating each system.
Where there is an awareness of a system which might be suitable but for which no use is currently planned, we ask that contact details and any technical information is provided to us to broaden the scope of an evaluation.
We intend to produce the set of evaluation criteria which will be necessary for any system and to cover the breadth of Type A and Type B events. It may well be that at this stage we can only satisfy the criteria for Type B events but not Type A events and it may be decided to proceed on that basis alone.
We welcome input from all, but especially from those with technical and practical knowledge of the use of potential timing systems. If anyone has knowledge of a system which is currently under development or of a specification which is intended for development for the timing of events we ask them to contact us with a view to participating in our project. It is not our intention to include RFID or QR-based systems or any system which implies physical road-surface hardware.
