RIDERS will be heading to South Wales on Sunday for the Welsh 10-Mile Championship staged by Pontypool RCC, one of many events taking place over the weekend.
With six wins to his name this season Christopher Gibbard (Bynea Cycling Club) starts as scratch rider in the men’s event.
Last time out on the R10/17 between Llangattock Nigh Usk and Raglan a time of 18-56 saw Gibbard win the Ross-on-Wye & Dis CC 10.
David Medhurst (Cardiff Ajax CC) won the Cardiff 100 Miles RCC 50 last weekend and could be amongst a host of riders to challenge Gibbard for victory.
In the women’s event Tina Reid (VC de Londres) is last rider away after finishing third in the Ross-on-Wye & Dis CC 10 on her last outing clocking 24-21.
A host of veteran riders are heading up to the Northeast on Sunday for the Cleveland Couriers/VTTA 25 taking place on the T252/3 near Middlesborough.
Darren Yarwood (Chapeau! Vive Le Velo) starts last having recorded a 51-31 in the City Road Club Hull 25 earlier this season.
Liz Ball (Valley Striders Cycling Club) is the final woman away, but she will have to see off the challenge of Claire Jessop (Otley CC).
A big field of 76 riders head to Yorkshire on Saturday for the Tickhill Velo Club 10 taking place on the O10/1 near Doncaster.
Mark Wolstenholme (Swift Racing) won the Otley CC 25 last weekend in 53-34 and will be hoping to continue his winning run.
Veteran Neil Parkin (Team Bottrill) won the Rotherham Wheelers 10 last month along with two third places and could also be a challenger.
In the women’s event Jo Corbett (Sherwood CC) placed second in the Rossington Wheelers 10 last time on the same course clocking 25-31 and will be looking to go one better this time out.
Lloyd Chapman (Loose Cannon's Conditioning) has won his last three events and will be looking to continue his winning run in Saturday’s Kings Lynn CC 25, while his team-mate Verity Smith goes in the women’s event.
Early on Sunday morning sees a decent sized field line up for the Mid-Devon CC 25 taking place along the A38 between Buckfastleigh and Chudleigh.
Conrad Moss (Primera-Teamjobs) has won his last three events including the Plymouth Corinthian 50 on his last time out and starts as scratch man.
Natalie Grinczer (CAMS Racing) was part of the winning National Team Time Trial Championship team and has also won a host of individual events including the Alltrax 10 last month.
Veteran Angela Carpenter (…A3crg) will be hoping to continue her successful season in Sunday’s V.C Norwich 25 taking place on the B25/8 near Wymondham.
Carpenter won the …a3crg Glorious Goodwood Circuit TT 11.8 on her last outing but will have to beat Alice Lethbridge (Drag2Zero) amongst others to take the victory.
Matthew Smith (Drag2Zero) start as last man having won the C.C Breckland 25 last month in a winning time of 47-35.
