Chris Fennell and Emily Meakin were crowned National 25-Mile Champions last weekend, as The Independent Pedaler dominated the main categories at the title race in Derbyshire.
Meakin secured the first win of the weekend for the team with victory in the women’s raceon Saturday, where she was the only rider to go under the 50-minute mark with a time of 49-45 for the A50 course from Etwall in Derbyshire over the border to Uttoxeter in Staffordshire.
And second place went to another rider from The Independent Pedaler, with Emma Lewis clocking exactly 50 minutes.
Then 24 hours later Chris Fennell was victorious in the men’s race, with an impressive time of 46-07 which gave him the win by 26 seconds from Phil Williams (Liverpool Phoenix CC).
Team winners were Team Bottrill, with James Rix, Daniel Barnett and Keith Dorling making up the victorious trio.
In South Wales the Royal Dean Forest CC staged a 25-mile time trial near Usk, and it was Conrad Moss (NOPINZ) and Michelle Lee (PDQ Cycle Coaching) who were victorious there.
44-year-old Moss clocked 47-52 to win the event by 31 seconds from Chris Gibbard (Bynea CC), while a time of 53-18 gave 47-year-old Michelle Lee a resounding victory in the women’s event from runner-up Amanda Lane (Bynea CC).
In Kent, Charmaine Pullen and Neil Lauder were winners at the Catford CC 25-mile open event on Sunday morning.
Arctic Aircon RT rider Lauder covered the course in 50-47 to win by three minutes from Nic Fennell (Thanet RC), while Pullen (Folkestone Velo) clocked 1-03-23 to finish as fastest female.
Venda Pollock (Blaydon CC) and Graham Crammond (Team Swift) powered to victories in the Blaydon CC 23-mile time trial in Northumberland on Sunday.
Crammond notched up victory with a time of 53-21 which was around a minute and a half ahead of runner-up and junior Daniel Dixon (Revolver Racing), while Pollock’s time of 1-00-39 was her fourth win of the year so far.
In West Sussex the Southdown Velo 25 was won by Sam Wadsley (Primera TeamJobs) and Angela Carpenter (a3crg).
Using the P901/25 course near Walberton, the event was won by Wadsley in a time of 52-26 to beat Kevin Nelson (Crawley Wheelers) was 38 seconds, while Carpenter’s time of 56-02 gave her a tenth win for the season.
Victory in the North Shropshire Wheelers 25 went to David Williams (Velotik RT) with a time of 52-46, while Deb Hutson-Lumb (Nova Raiders) was the fastest female on the D25 course near Hodnet.
Williams’ time was fastest by more than a minute and a half from Nova Raiders’ Tim Beardmore, while Hutson-Lumb clocked 1-01-07 to win by 35 seconds from Kate Giddings (Liverpool Century RC).
Jennifer George (Torelli) clocked a new women’s course record time of 24-19 to win the Sussex CA 10 near Loxwood in West Sussex, while the fastest man was James Boyman (Hoops Velo) with 20-51.
And in South Yorkshire, in one of the season’s first hill-climbs, Calum Brown (B38-Cycles in Motion) set a new course record on his way to victory in the Birdwell Wheelers climb of Green Moor Road near Stocksbridge.
He clocked 2-14.7 for the 1,100-yard climb, winning by just 0.2 seconds from team-mate Andy Nichols.
Rebecca Richardson (Brother UK Fusion) set a new women’s course record with 2-50.6, while Chris Myhill (Peak Road Club) set a new veterans course record with 2-36.1. And similarly, Emilie Verroken (Maxx RT) clocked 3-04.9 to set a new women veterans course record.
