Defending champion and competition record holder Marcin Bialoblocki (NOPINZ) will attempt to defend his title when the National 25-Mile Championships are staged in Derbyshire this weekend.
The Polish ace, who now lives in Somerset, is the last man off in a field packed full of time trialling talent.
However, 2018 women’s champion Hayley Simmonds will not defend her title this time, leaving the way open for a new women’s champion to be crowned in a strong field.
Emma Lewis is the last of the women to go, while her team-mate at The Independent Pedaler Emily Meakin will also be chasing a podium spot.
After being on the podium in the last two years, Anna Turvey (Drag2zero) will be hoping to take the win this time, while others to watch out for are National 100 and 12-hour champion Vicky Gill (Drag2zero), as well as Alex Clay (AeroLab Ward Wheelz).
On Sunday the men’s title sees Bialoblocki as last man off, but before him are a host of top riders including Chris Fennell (The Independent Pedaler), Matt Bottrill and Brett Harwood (both Team Bottrill), Tom Ward (AeroLab Ward Wheelz) and Andy Jackson (AeroCoach).
Elsewhere, the Royal Dean Forest CC are holding a 25-mile time trial near Usk in Monmouthshire, with Chris Gibbard (Bynea CC) the last man off while others to watch out for include Conrad Moss (NOPINZ).
Over the same distance it’s the Catford CC event near Brenzett in Kent, with Neil Lauder (Arctic Aircon) and Nick Fennell (Thanet RC) expected to both be chasing victory.
In Norfolk the Diss and District CC are also promoting a 25-mile event with the top riders including Mark Arnold (VTTA East Anglia) and Ben Stancombe (Team Velovelocity). The event uses the B25/17 course near Bressingham.
Southdown Velo’s 25-mile event on Sunday incorporates the South District Championship, and has attracted a field of 88 riders including Greg Parker (Estrella Bikes), Sam Wadsley (Primera TeamJobs) and Nick Dwyer (Lewes Wanderers CC). The women’s title looks set to be a tussle between a3crg team-mates Kirsty McSeveney and Angela Carpenter.
In Northumberland, Blaydon CC are staging a 23-mile event near Mitford. Riders to watch out for include Harry Walker (Revolver Racing), Julian Macbride (Team Kirkley Cycles) and Graham Crammond (Team Swift), while the women’s event includes the promoting club’s Venda Louise Pollock as well as Joanne Rea.
Saturday’s events include the Border City Wheelers 10 near Tebay in Cumbria, as well as the Barton Wheelers 10 in Lincolnshire and the Scarborough Paragon CC 10 in East Yorkshire.
And in the south it’s the Victoria CA 10 as well as the Victoria CC 10.2 in Essex.
