Just a week after winning the National 12-Hour Championship, Vicky Gill (Drag2zero) heads to South Wales in search of a fast 25-mile time in the Realteam.co.uk time trial at Rhigos on Sunday.
Already the National 100 champ as well as the 12-hour champ, Gill is also targeting the National 25 and 10, and Sunday’s fast event in South Wales would be an ideal opportunity to see how she goes over 25 miles – providing she has recovered from the 12-hour exertions.
She is one of 36 women in a cracking entry, with several potential winners elsewhere on the startsheet including her Drag2zero team-mates Alice Lethbridge and Anna Turvey. Welsh champion Stephanie Post (Team Bottrill) is also down to ride.
In-form juvenile rider Josh Tarling (Team Backstedt Bike Performance) takes part, as well as his brother Finlay.
And in the men’s event there are more than a dozen riders with personal best times of under 50 minutes. Ken Buckley (Nuun-Sigma Sport) is the fastest of those and is last man off, while in front of him will be quality riders suck as Arthur Franklin (Portishead CC), Richard Dean (Rockingham CC) and Alex Royle (Manchester BC).
Elsewhere, West Cheshire TTCA and the Lancashire TTCA are jointly hosting a 12-hour event near Prees in Shropshire, with entries including Ben Norbury (Congleton CC), Adrian Hughes (Seamons CC) as well as Jill Wilkinson (Chester RC).
Ben Stancombe (Team Velovelocity) is one to watch at the VC Baracchi 50-mile event in Norfolk on Sunday, along with Jason Turner (Norwich ABC) and John Bradbury (CC Sudbury).
And Reading CC are also holding a 50-mile event, near Aldermaston in Berkshire on Sunday, which has attracted 50 riders.
Other events on Sunday include the Wigan Wheelers 30 in Cumbria, the Barnesbury CC 10 in Northumberland, and the City Cycle Couriers 13 in Cornwall.
Sunday’s action starts with the VTTA 25 near Newmarket in Cambridgeshire at 6am, while later in the day there’s the Cambridge CC 15, the Didcot Phoenix 10 and the VC Norwich 10 as well as the Sherwood CC 25 in Nottinghamshire.
North Hampshire Road Club stage a 25-mile event near Bentley, while Wigan Wheelers are holding a 10 on Saturday evening on the fast L1015 course near Levens.
Full startsheets from these and other events are available on the CTT website. Remember to keep checking back to the CTT website over the weekend for reports and results.
