It’s the middle of the season, the forecasts look reasonable, and records could be broken this weekend with strong fields entered for a host of time trials across the country.
Leading the list of potential record-breaking rides is the East District CA 100 Championship, where a raft of in-form riders are down to ride in both the men’s and women’s categories.
Newly-crowned National 100 champions Vicky Gill (DRAG2ZERO) and Marcin Bialoblocki (NOPINZ) are both down to ride, with the pacey Polish ace having stated his desire to break the competition record in the event.
Other top names down to ride include Gill’s team-mate at DRAG2ZERO Kimberley Morrison, as well as Alice Lethbridge, Dave Green (CC Breckland) and Stuart Travis (Team Bottrill).
There’s also a 100-mile event in Cumbria on Sunday, where the North Lancs TTA are the promoting club.
Last man off is Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC), but others to watch include David Allonby (Springfield Financial) as well as Richard Bickley (Border City Wheelers).
Former National 12-Hour Champion Katja Rietdorf (Born to Bike) is the pick of the women in the event near Braithwaite.
The Shropshire CCA and West Cheshire TTCA are jointing hosting a 100-mile event near Market Drayton in Shropshire on Sunday morning, and their field includes former National 24-Hour Championship medallist Victor Chetta (Mid Shropshire Wheelers).
The VTTA Kent are holding the district 50-mile championship on Sunday, with brothers Chris Fennell (The Independent Pedaler) and Nic Fennell (Thanet RC) among the top riders.
Chris Fennell was second in the National 50 a couple of weeks ago and so in the pre-race favourite and last man off, but others to watch for include Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined), as well as Pip Jenkins (Southborough and District Wheelers) in the women’s category.
Elsewhere Brighton Excelsior CC are holding a 10-mile event on Saturday and a 25-mile event on Sunday, both near Steyning in West Sussex.
In non-standard distances there is the a3crg 30 on Saturday near Greatham in Hampshire as well as the Colchester Rovers CC 47 on Sunday in Essex.
And in North Yorkshire Cleveland Wheelers are holding an 18-mile test near Stokesley, while Blaydon CC are putting on a 14-mile time trial near Edmundbyers in County Durham.
Full startsheets from these and other events are available on the CTT website. Remember to keep checking back to the CTT website over the weekend for reports and results.
