Three weeks to go before the RTTC National Hill-Climb Championship and we have a mass of hill-climbs scheduled for the weekend.
As far as numbers go the Sheffrec CC event on Monsal has 198 riders listed for the main event on the closed-roads. 2016 National Champion Adam Kenway (VITUS Pro Cycling) heads the listings along with Russell Downing (Holdsworth Pro Racing). Current Champion Dan Evans (ASSOS Equipe UK) rides the Otley CC 2-stage event.
The other big number event is the popular Fibrax Wrexham RC promotion on the 2.3-mile Horseshoe Pass which has attracted 143 riders, who are listed on our website under `start sheets` along with all of the other weekend events.
Heading South we have Kent’s two classic events, the Catford CC and Bec CC promotions where former 24-hour champion Jonathan Shubert (Arctic-Tacx RT) appears. Fourth in the Catford event last year Ewen Tuohy (Dartford CC) hopes to move up this year. Peter Tadros (Trainsharp) chases success in the Brighton Mitre hill-climb.
Richard Gildea (Didcot Phoenix) goes for a couple of events, the Chippenham & District Wheelers event on Saturday morning followed by the afternoon’s Severn RC promotion. Joanne Jago (Performance Cycles CC) is among the women down for both.
JLT Condor’s Ed Laverack has entered the www.realteam.co.uk event while Kieran Wyne-Cattanach (Team B38-Underpin Racing) looks for a good placing in the Rossendale RC’s 1,000-yard Crown Point climb.
