This Bank Holiday weekend is the calm before the storm, with the National 10-Mile Championship little more than week away – but there are still some great events up and down the country that have attracted a host of quality riders.

Saturday’s Withington Wheelers 10 in Cheshire sees Simon Wilson (Ribble Pro Cycling) last man off at Monks Heath, while Darren Maironis (Velotik RT) could be among the challengers in a 110-strong field.

There is a good field for the Barton Wheelers 10 on Saturday, with newly crowned Women’s National Team Time Trial Championship winner Fiona Sharp (Team Swift) down to ride. In the men’s event is Ian Guilor (Mapperley CC), as well as Richard Dixon (Team Swift) and Richard Sharp (Team Swift).

Also on Saturday, the Border City Wheelers 10 has attracted almost 100 entries for the event along the A685 from Newbiggin on Lune to Tebay and back. David Allonby (Springfield Financial RT) and Keith Murray (Drag2zero) will be pushing for the win, as will Richard Bideau (Pendle Forest CC). Among the women, Katie Lukas (Beacon Wheelers) and the evergreen Carol Westmorland (Border City Wheelers) are down to ride.

In Wiltshire, Stuart Travis is down to ride the Fairly United CC 10-mile event.. Of the women, Christina Murray (Army Cycling Union) could be one to watch.

Birdwell Wheelers are holding an early-season hill-climb at Wentworth in South Yorkshire on Sunday evening, with some top names from that particular discipline down to ride. Andy Nichols (Team B38-Underpin Racing) is last man off, and others to follow include Calum Brown (Sheffrec CC) and Emilie Verroken (Maxx RT).

In Kent the Catford CC 25 has attracted Andrew Meilak (VeloRefined Aerosmiths) as well as Neil Lauder (PMR @ Toachim House), while the women’s entry includes Pip Jenkins (Southborough & Dist Wh) and Debbie Percival (Kent Velo Boys/Girls).

Bank Holiday Monday’s events include the Essex Roads CC 25, with the promoting club’s Colin Ward the last man off. Others include Paul Hart (Southend Wheelers) and Julia Freeman (Easterley RC).

Startsheets for many more of this weekend’s events are available on the CTT website.
