After the excitement of the National 25 last weekend, riders are mainly returning to their home turf in search of time trialling action this weekend – and there are some great line-ups in events across the country.
Among the field for the Medway Velo 50 near Brenzett in Kent are VeloRefined-Aerosmiths team-mates Kevin Tye and Andrew Meilak, while they will have competition for the top spot in the form of Chris Fennell (The Independent Pedaler) who was sixth in the National 25, as well as his brother Nic Fennell (Thanet RC).
And among the women’s entries are Debbie Percival (Kent Velo Boys/Girls) as well as 7 Oaks Tri team-mates Valerie Place and Deborah Munton.
Also taking place over 50 miles is the Bristol South CC event near Malmesbury in Wiltshire, where last man off is veteran campaigner and prolific event winner Rob Pears (Bath CC). Among a good entry of women, the promoting club’s own Joanna Knight looks a good bet for victory.
In North Yorkshire, prolific winner Kieron Davies (Drag2zero) is last man off in the Hartlepool CC 50, while Stephen Irwin (North Lancashire RC) will also be pushing for victory. But also down to ride are Carl Donaldson (GS Metro) as well as all-rounder Philip Graves (NOPINZ).
Among the women down to ride the event near Kirklevington is Alice Lethbridge (Drag2zero), while her team-mate Liz Powell and Christina Murray (Army CU) will also challenge as well as Karen Ledger (Team Bottrill).
North of the border, the GTR Return to Life 10 near Irvine sees plenty of talent on show, particularly among the younger entrants which include espoir Adam Wild (GS Metro) as well as junior Adam Jarps (Team Bottrill).
And in the Welsh 10-mile Championship on Sunday (being staged by Pontypool RCC) the full field includes David Janes (Wheels of Dorset) as well as Team Bottrill’s George Evans, while the last of the women to set off will be another Team Bottrill-Vanguard rider in Stephanie Post.
In Cornwall, the Giant Helston 25-mile event near Roche has attracted some class names, none more so than newly-crowned National 25-mile champion Marcin Bialoblocki, while Crystal Spearman (NOPINZ) is among the women to tackle the S100/25 course.
And Matt Senter and Daniel Bloy (both Team Velovelocity) will be vying for victory in the Diss and District CC 25 in Norfolk on Sunday.
