George Elliott, CTT Scholarship rider, has a mixed season

I was really surprised and pleased to be included on the CTT Scholarship for 2018.  I’ve always been conscious of how much money and time my parents put in to my racing.  The scholarship money has been very useful, covering travel and new kit including tyres and a tri-spoke.

2017 was a good year for me.  I was the fastest 15 year old at the National 25, fourth in the National Youth final and second at the Thruxton Closed Circuit championship for my age group.  I also had success on the track, winning the Manchester ACT Track league

2018 has not been so good.  My GCSE exams affected my form quite badly because of the amount of revision beforehand and the exams themselves.  Also my team (Innovation Racing) have wanted me to do more road racing this year.  This has meant a mixed TT season so far.  It’s only in the last few weeks that things have come good for me.  I’m back racing regular TTs and have had several course PBs this month.  In the recent Southport CC Open 25 I managed 3rd place overall and 1st Junior rider, which was great.

I have a few targets for the rest of the year.  The National 25 is the main one but I would also like to improve on my results in the National Youth Championship and at Thruxton.  I’m also aiming to complete a 50 before the end of the year.  Otherwise I’m just aiming to race as many local and open TTs as I can and do some hill climbs to keep my season going.
