Last year’s Welsh 50-Mile Champion Kieron Davies (Drag2zero) returns to defend his title when the 2016 event is held near Abergavenny on Sunday.

The 29-year-old broke the event record on his way to a convincing victory in last year’s event, and he will be targeting another win – with another record possible if the weather is kind.

A strong field for the event on the R50/1b includes last year’s bronze medallist Rich Hunt (Severn Valley Cycles), while 2015 women’s winner Crystal Spearman (NoPinz) returns to defend her title.

As well as the Welsh Championship, CC Breckland stage a 50-mile time trial in Norfolk, with both being the last qualifying events in the men’s British Best All Rounder competition.

Reigning national 12-hour champion Danny Grieves (GS Metro) is last man off in Norfolk, while he will have competition in the form of Daniel Bloy (Team Velovelocity) in the event which uses the B50/18 near Besthorpe.

The hill-climbing season continues to build, and Minehead CC have attracted a good field for their climb on Porlock Toll Road on Sunday.

Reigning national hill-climb and 10-mile champion Richard Bussell (AeroCoach) will ride, and will be challenged by Ed Laverack (JLT Condor) as well as 2014 national hill-climb champion Dan Evans (Team Elite) and George Fowler (NFTO Pro Cycling).

Reigning women’s national hill-climb champion Maryka Sennema (Paceline RT) is last of 23 women to tackle the 4.2-mile climb.

There is also a strong field for the 2 stage Stocksbridge CC hill climb's on New Mill Bank and Pea Royd Lane, with Joseph Clark (Envelopemaster) the last man off.

Another former national champion from 2013, Tejvan Pettinger (Sri Chinmoy CT) is among the favourites for the Newbury Road Club climb of Walbury Hill on Sunday, which has attracted 132 entries.

And after winning two events in one day last Sunday, in-form Adam Kenway tackles the Glossop Kinder Velo climb from Glossop three miles up the Snake Pass. Also down to ride are Lee Baldwin (Champion System) as well as Sam Clark (Buxton CC).

Among Saturday’s hill-climbs are the Exeter Wheelers climb of the 1.2-mile Stoke Hill, and last man off in that event is Dan Evans (Team Elite). George Fowler (NFTO Pro Cycling) is also down to ride there too, as well as Matt Langworth (Mid Devon CC).
