Stone Village Hall
The village of Stone is on the A38 just north of M5 Junction 14. The village hall is located just off the A38 as you turn left after passing Stone Garage.
Limited parking at the Village Hall, further parking in the adjacent roads. Toilets and changing in the Village Hall.
Note: Please respect the floor surface and not wear your cycling shoes inside the village hall.
NOTES ON THE COURSE
Directional signs will be placed along the course to help riders. Marshalls will also be at key points. However, riders should also read the course details carefully to ensure they are familiar with the course.
On the outbound leg of the course, please be aware of the poor road surface at the Berkeley Heath junction (approx 2.5 miles from the start), and also be aware that vehicles (including HGVs) may be turning across your path, or turning into / out of the petrol station.
Also on the outbound leg, please take care at the railway bridge just before the Prince of Wales inn (approx 3 miles from the start) where the road narrows across the bridge.
Please also take extra care at the turning point (Slimbridge Roundabout), which can be very busy. Whilst there will be marshals at the roundabout, it is each rider’s own responsibility to negotiate the roundabout safely, paying attention to traffic from all directions.
GENERAL NOTES
Riders must sign the signing on sheet at the HQ to obtain their race number and check for any last minute information. Please return your number for a free drink.
Please do not wear your cycling shoes in the village hall.
SAFETY
The Police have requested that inconvenience to the public and other road users be kept to a minimum.
As always, please think of your own and others’ safety while riding:
Avoid making U-turns near the start and finish areas.?
No warming up on the course after the event has started.?
Be aware of rumble strips and 30mph speed limit on the approach to the railway bridge before the Prince of Wales pub.?
Be aware of road narrowing and cars turning into the car auctions. Take extreme care crossing the A38 when returning to the HQ.
Please be considerate to other road users, including horses and foxes.
Marshals are there to indicate the direction only. They have no power to stop traffic and you must give way to other traffic where the law of the land dictates. Remember, you are the only person responsible for your actions – ride safely.
Dangerous riding will result in disqualification. Please keep your head up for a safe ride.
Cycling Time Trials recommends that competitors wear a hard shell ?helmet that meets an internationally accepted safety standard. All junior and youth riders must wear a helmet.
Cycling Time Trials recommends that you have a working (and good) rear light on your bike.
THANKS
As with all cycle races, they are organized by a team. I would like to thank the members of Giant CC who will be marshalling, managing the times transfer to HQ, supplying refreshments and especially to Neil Langdon who has organsied the event with me.
