Anthony Green (St Austell Wheelers) showed that hard work pays off by taking his first ever victory in storm force gales at the Lanhydrock Wheelers 22-mile time trial.
After a winter of hard training he took victory by a narrow six seconds recording a time of 54 minutes and six seconds.
He beat teammate Jason McGowan into second, who claimed his ride was hampered by a slow bus blocking his path.
With severe gales and between 22 and 25 miles per hour winds forecasted organisers chose to half the distance from 44 to 22 miles.
The weather also had an effect on the size of the field with 30 per cent of the start sheet deciding against competing including favourite Matt Slater (Revo Racing).
However, it did little to deter Green who charged to victory and his team took the first four placing.
First woman on the day was Martina Geraghty (Penzance Wheelers) who recorded a time of one hour 15 minutes and seven seconds.
