Fourth last year, John Dewey (Team Bottrill) stormed to victory in the High Wycombe CC 10-mile time trial on the H10/22 near Marlow in Buckingham shire on Good Friday.

The 34-year-old from Dorking in Surrey clocked 19.11 to take victory by 13 seconds from last year’s winner Adam Topham (High Wycombe CC) who was five seconds slower than his time 12 months ago.

“I’ve been working with Matt Bottrill for a couple of months now,” said Dewey.

“I’m targeting the National Championships. I’ll do the 10 and 25, and maybe the 50. A number of the Championships are quite hilly, and I’m not a natural hill rider, but working with Matt Bottrill has been great and I’m sure I will be OK.”

The podium was completed by Rob Sharland (Paceline RT) with 19.34, while Jonathan Wale (Loughborough Students CC) was fourth, another 35 seconds off the pace.

Rachael Elliott (Newbury RC) was the fastest female with 22.02 for 29th fastest overall, which was 1-15 quicker than the next best woman, veteran Danuta Tinn (Maidenhead and Dist CC), while just one second back was Dena Ford (High Wycombe CC).

The fastest tandem pairing of Peter Oliver and Chris Edginton (Fairly United CT) clocked 20-46.
