Pete Morris (Team ASL360) took victory in the Crawley Wheelers 41.59-mile time trial on the GS196 course near Handcross in Surrey.

With several top ten places already under his belt this season, Morris clocked 1:36.32 to take victory by just 17 seconds from Carl Ferri (Cadence Performance), while Simon Mcnamara (South Downs Bikes) completed the podium in third spot with 1:37.49.

Morris was second in the East Sussex CA 15-mile time trial the week before, where only speedy vet Pete Tadros could better his time. And back in February Morris placed sixth in both the South Downs Bikes 10.5 and South Downs Bikes 21 over the weekend of February 6-7.

Maldon and District CC were celebrating victory in the women’s event, with Lisa Haines having clocked 2:02.45 to win that category by almost five minutes from Katherine Barrett (Crawley Wheelers), with Helen Webb (Sussex Nomads CC) taking third, another couple of minutes back.

While he had to settle for second place in the overall fastest, Carl Ferri (Cadence Performance) was the fastest veteran on standard with a plus of 17.08, while David Pollard (In Gear-Quickvit Trainsharp RT) was second in that category, his actual time of 1:42:49 giving him a plus on age standard of 15.40.

The promoting club Crawley Wheelers won the team prize, their victorious trio being made up of Mark Smith, Brindley Taylor and Dan Pullen who finished fifth, eighth and 17th respectively.
