P501 full Course Description: Start on Southampton Road, Alderbury, at lay-by opposite Castle Lane (SU 19470 26598). Proceed south east on Southampton Road, through Whaddon village, to T-junction, where left (M) (CARE – Give Way) (sp A36 Southampton-Salisbury-West Grimstead). Continue on Grimstead Road to cross over the A36 dual carriageway, through West Grimstead towards West Dean. At the junction of Dean Road and Moodys Hill (6.92km) turn sharp left (M) to follow Dean Road, (Sustrans route 24) to East Grimstead, taking care as the road passes under the railway bridge (M) and at the sharp right-hand bend in East Grimstead. 200m after the sharp bend turn left (9.81km) on to Long Drove. Continue to follow Route 24 along Long Drove/Clarendon Road to Alderbury. At the crossroads in Alderbury at 14.55km, turn left (CARE – Give Way) (s/p Romsey – Southampton) on to Southampton Rd. Continue past the start to finish at the Chapel at SU196263 (16.00 km).
