Windrush Triathlon Club

Windrush Triathlon Club

The club's name is firmly linked to the history of the local area – the Windrush Square in Brixton. This public square was built in 1998 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the ship 'Windrush Emprire' who brought the first large group of West Indian migrants to the United Kingdom, the square represents both the heart and bond of the community through being a venue for local events.

Ten years later in 2008, the first Aquathlon was setup at Brockwell Lido by a group of friends to help bring together the local community through the love of sports and they adeptly named it ‘The Windrush Aquathlon’. It was a great success which led to the birth of The Windrush Triathlon Club and we still come together every year to put on the event.

Our core location is at Brockwell Lido and we also train at the Herne Hill Velodrome, Clapham Leisure Centre, Tooting and Battersea Athletics Tracks, Streatham Leisure Centre and JAGs in Dulwich. We offer a wide range of scheduled sessions for both adults and juniors, that cover the three sports: swimming, cycling and running – as well as supporting with pilates and strength and conditioning.

Windrush is a super friendly active club, with captains and members organising fun and social runs, swims and cycles through our forum.

Our club wants to be an vital part of the local community and enable everyone to connect and be supported within the sport of triathlon. So whether its your first time, looking to go swimming or want find out more then pop along to any of our sessions or social events.

Current members range from Paratriathletes, juniors, parkrun runners, cold water swimmers and cake bakers, so come and join the Windrush family.
