A large field of riders will be chasing fast times at the Leo 30-mile time trial on Sunday in Cambridgeshire, where records could tumble given the right conditions.

Talented teenager Leon Atkins (258 Protégé) is tipped to be overall fastest despite only being 15 years old, while another big attraction will be Hayley Simmonds, the Doltcini O’Shea Cycle Division rider who is the national record holder over 10, 25 and 50 miles.

She is predicted by Spindata to clock 1-06-04 which would be a new course record by a long margin, and would place her in the top six in the open event.

Others to watch out for include Jack Levick (Rose RT) and Matthew Smith (Drtag2zero), as well as Paul Pardoe (Peterborough CC) and Sam Mcdonald (St Neots CC).

Elsewhere this weekend it’s the Cardiff 100 Miles RCC 50-mile event on Saturday near Abergavenny, with Jake Sargent (Team Bottrill) going for a new PB on the fast course. And if Spindata is to be believed, he could slash a good chunk of time off the course record too.

Other riders to watch include Chris Gibbard (FTP Fulfil the Potential Racing) and his team-mate Matthew Cox, as well as Anthony Jones (VMCC powered by Y Beic).

In the women’s category Emma Bexson (Stratford CC) has been in good form and could well take the win, while others to watch include Michelle Lindley (Poole Wheelers).

After tackling the Cardiff 50 on Saturday, Jake Sargent is also down to ride the Bath CC 10 on Sunday, where he is expected to take the win ahead of the promoting club’s Oliver Bridgwood and Nick English (AeroCoach).

Also over 50 miles is the Dukinfield CC event near Cranage in Cheshire on Sunday.

Velotik Racing Team’s David Parkin is listed as pre-race favourite, but it could be tight with Manchester Tri Club’s Lewis Eccleston and Alex Royle (Manchester Bicycle Club) not far behind.

Spindata has Congleton CC’s Alice Taylor down to be fastest female, with Jasmine Holmes (Total Tri Training) and Joanna Cebrat (360cycling) in the mix too.

Other events taking place on Saturday include the Ferryhill Wheelers 20 in North Yorkshire, while VC Venta and VC Bristol both stage ten mile events in Hampshire and Gloucestershire respectively.

In Surrey it’s the Anerley BC 10 near North Holmwood, while VC Cumbria are also holding a ten near Keswick.

Sunday’s events include the Mid-Shropshire Wheelers 50 and the Newbury RC 25, as well as the City Road Club 10 in East Yorkshire and the Team Milton Keynes 20 in Buckinghamshire.
