Michael Hutchinson. hotograoh by KimroyA week before he defends his National 25-mile title Michael Hutchinson (In Gear Quickvit-Trainsharp) showed a clean pair of heels to the opposition in Saturday’s Hitchen Nomads CC 25-mile time trial, winning by over five minutes.

Hutchinson clocked 50-16 with Team Milton Keynes’ Ross Clarke second with his 55-25, 33 seconds ahead of third placed Trevor Burke (Finchley RT). Top woman was Helen Boardman (Team Milton Keynes) finishing with a 1-03-44.

Matthew Bottrill (drag2zero), silver medallist behind Hutchinson in the recent 10-mile championship, took the Mapperley CC `10` as he rounded off his `25` championship form. Bottrill won with 19-49 beating James Coleman (Witham Wheelers), 20-41, and Adam Gascoigne (Pedal Power Loughborough), 20-58, International track star Wendy Houvenaghel (Bike Chain Ricci) finished in 10th spot, first woman with her 21-38.

Photo by KimroyNational hill climb champion Gunnar Gronlund (RST-Trigon Bikes) won the Fusion CC Dronfield `10` with an event record 20-15 at Hatfield Woodhouse while his clubmate Alex Deck took the women’s award with a 23-35. Grigor Wallace (Team Midland Racing), 20-28, and Danny Lowthorpe (Langsett Cycles), 20-42, filled the other podium places behind Gronlund.

 

The Stockton Wheelers `10`went to Paul Thirling (Adept Precision RT), a 21-26 giving him victory by seven seconds from Rob Carter (Velo 29). Simon Clark (GS Metro) was a further 10 seconds behind Thirling.

 

Barry Charlton (Lyme RC) came out on top in the Tricycle Association North West 50-mile event with a 2-02-18. Carl Saint (Yorkshire RC) and Geoff Booker (Oxonian CC) were second and third respectively with 2-14-50 and 2-28-42.

Wouter Sybrandy. Photo by KimroyA course record 1-32-21 earned Wouter Sybrandy (Team IG-Sigma Sport) success in the Crawley Wheelers 41.9-mile event on Sunday, three days after riding the Halfords Tour City Centre event at London’s Canary Wharf.
 
Sebastian Ader (a3crg-SIS) claimed second place with a 1-38-06 ahead of the Lewes Wanderers duo of Peter Morris, 1-38-35, and Rob Pelham, 1-39-23. The De Laune CC’s Jayne Wadsworth was first of the women with a 1-58-39.

The Nottingham Clarion CC `50` was won by Scott Walker (MG Décor-Team Carbon Bikes), a 1-54-04, 59 seconds better than managed by second placed Simon Dale of the promoting club. Ewan Tarrant (Mapperley CC) filled third with 1-57-05 while Helen Eborall (VC Rutland) was first of the women with a 2-14-12.

Jon Sturman (Blumilk.com) delivered the goods in the Northumberland & Durham CA `50` with an 8-41 winning margin. Sturman clocked 1-49-28, Elliott Gowland (Infinity Cycles), 1-58-09, with third placed Jonathan Gavaghan (Wansbeck CC) finishing on 2-00-08.
