The event was run off in wet and windy conditions but Sotonia CC got two 'home' wins. Veteran Colin Yeates won his first open event with a fine ride on the night - the only one over 25 mph, and Sotonia's Wendy Knowlton was the fastest lady.

With some of the faster riders choosing not to venture out Yeates powered round the course in 23.52 to beat fellow vet Cliff Rowe from Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers by 8 seconds.

The course is an 'old fashioned' out and back course with a downhill start but the wind and a heavy shower made the going tough on the return leg so the course record was never threatened but despite this one rider, Andrew Crocker of Team Tor 2000, still managed a 17 second improvement on the night!
