Event HQ
Cranage Village Hall CW4 8EQ
[On the western side of the A50 in Cranage, about 500m south of the A50/Twemlow Lane junction]
DIRECTIONS TO START
For those riders who know the area the best way is to go through Goostrey village because it does not involve riding on the course.
For those riders who do not know the area the simplest route is to turn left out of the HQ and then first right into Twemlow Lane. Then follow the course (beware of other riders) to the junction of the A535 and Bomish Lane. Turn left into Bomish Lane where the start is approx 500m up the road.
RISK ASSESSMENT
A copy of the J2/9 course risk assessment will be available to read at the Event HQ.
Please also be aware that there is a double bend shortly after turning into Twemlow Lane at Cranage. Riders need to anticipate this and be prepared to negotiate it in a safe manner. In wet weather the metal covers and edges become a skid risk. Please take care.
Notes
1/ Please allow 25 minutes to ride from the HQ to the start
2/ No parking at the start or finish, and vehicles must not be parked, however briefly, in any part of the access area to Mount Pleasant Nursing Home,
opposite the finish.
3/ Numbers, signing on sheet, and results board will be at the HQ. Arm numbers are to be worn on the right. Please hand in your numbers afterwards.
4/ Riders must not stop at the finish but continue (along the A50) on to the HQ.
5/ After finishing beware of other riders who may still be racing on the A50.
CTT Regulations
The event will be held under CTT regulations and observers may be present. Riders must not make U turns within sight of the start and finish.
In the interests of your own safety CTT and the event promoters strongly advise you to wear a HARD SHELL HELMET that meets an internationally accepted safety standard. In accordance with Regulation 15 ALL JUNIOR competitors must wear Protective Hard Shell Helmets.
It is recommended that a working rear light, either flashing or constant, is fitted to the machine in a position visible to following road users and is active whilst the machine is in use.
Care at road junctions
Riders must exercise caution at all junctions. Any competitor whose riding line causes him or her to cross the white line when approaching or leaving a junction will be liable to disqualification from the event and may be reported to the District Committee for further disciplinary action. Riders must take extra care when exiting from Seven Sisters Lane onto the A50.
CHELFORD ISLAND
RIDERS MUST NEGOTIATE CHELFORD ISLAND IN A SAFE AND SENSIBLE MANNER IN ACCORDANCE WITH CTT REG.20 AND THE RULES OF THE ROAD. RIDERS MUST BE ABLE TO BRAKE AND STOP AT THE ISLAND IF TRAFFIC CONDITIONS REQUIRE THIS. RIDERS MUST NOT APROACH AND ENCIRCLE THE ISLAND USING TRI-BARS. REMEMBER – TRAFFIC ON THE ISLAND HAS PRIORITY OVER TRAFFIC (INCLUDING RIDERS) ENTERING IT. ANY RIDER SEEN TO BE IN BREACH OF THIS REGULATION WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE EVENT AND MAY BE REPORTED FOR FURTHER DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
