What to do on the Day – don’t forget your helmet
Once you have arrived and parked up you will need to go register and sign-on for the event. Registration & Signing-on will be located in the Event Village.
When Signing-on you will be given your event numbers and pins for fixing them to your clothing.
The large number needs to be fixed to your LOWER BACK so that it is visible from behind and the smaller numbers to your UPPER ARMS facing forwards. The numbers need to be fixed as such so you can be identified and your time for the event recorded correctly.
Two sets of numbers will be used. Those starting between 08:30 and 09:45 will use YELLOW NUMBERS those from 09:45:30 to 11:00 will use ORANGE NUMBERS
Please return numbers and pins to the stewards after you have finished.
This is a Hardshell Helmet Compulsory Event
Warming Up
You can “Warm Up” on the course between 06:30 and 07:50. However, all participants must be clear of Bladon Bridge by 07:50 to allow the “Off Road Sportive” to start.
Please note that vehicles will still be on the roads setting up the event during this period.
Take extreme care at all times.
Riding the Event
The first rider sets off at 08:30:30. Riders are then set off at 30 second intervals up to orange number 122. Orange numbers 124 onwards are set off at 1 minute intervals.
Make sure you are at the starting area 2 or 3 minutes before you are due to start. As your starting time approaches the timekeepers will call your number. At this point make your way to the starting line. There will be no Starting Ramp. You will be held upright on the starting line whilst the timekeeper counts you down, 10, …..5, 4, 3, 2, 1, GO! If you do not want holding up you will be allowed to start unaided.
Please keep to the left except when overtaking and always be aware that you may be overtaken at anytime by a faster moving rider. You are not allowed to tuck in behind any rider that catches you.
The event covers three laps, the onus is on you the rider to keep count of how many laps you have done.
As you approach the finish line on the third lap move safely to the right-hand side of the road into the coned finish lane (please do not use this lane at the end of laps 1 and 2) in order that your time can be recorded. Once you have finished follow the marshals instructions on how to proceed. DO NOT stop on the course and DO NOT DISTURB the timekeepers. Your time will be displayed on the board in the event village.
Cycling Time Trials and Bike Blenheim Palace are pleased to welcome the Great Britain and Australian Paralympic riders to this event. Orange numbers 67 to 80
A cycling festival for all!
Set in 2,100 acres of stunning parkland in the heart of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, the event starts with a competitive focus. It kicks off with a 20km Time Trial which is open to seasoned and first time trialists alike. On a course closed to traffic, the 20km route involves three loops of the magnificent Park passing Vanbrugh's Grand Bridge and the 134ft Column of Victory.
Event Village and Demonstrations
The day will be based around an event village where all the cycling routes will start and finish. Here, in addition to being a place to relax and enjoy some food and drink prior to or following the cycling, there will be the opportunity to wander around various stalls and exhibits, as well as watch some amazing demonstrations take place in the main arena. The programme of events for the arena includes vintage bikes, bike polo, a mountain bike stunt team, and cycle skills for children plus many other fun activities, all of which will add to the atmosphere and enjoyment of the day.
