20/06/12 - London West GHS 9.3
Headquarters: Hillingdon -
Course: View
The Course
Hillingdon Circuit is a purpose built tarmac cycling track, this is a traffic free course. Each lap is just under 1 mile, consisting of a slight rise, a few bends and a back straight. The race will be run in an anti-clockwise direction. Please be aware that although there will be signs up and marshals placed around the circuit, this is still a public park and we do occasionally get people riding or walking around the track, so please be aware of this fact. The Westerley Cycling Club will do our up most to keep the track free whilst the race is on. The race will be of 10 laps. The total race distance is about 9.3 Miles. If you would like to ride round the circuit before, Minet Park is a public place so you can gain access at any time. Please try to avoid an evening as this is when all the cycle events are taking place.
Signing on & warming up.
The HQ will be open from about 6pm onwards. Please come in to the main building and sign on, to collect your number and any other relevant information. Please do not ride round the circuit after the event has begun.
Timing
For this event we will be using a transponder timing chip system, as well as a traditional timing method. The transponders will not be given out until just before the start of the event. Due to the transponders picking up the signals, when you cross the start/ finish line, it is very important you do not cross the line with the transponder attached to you when the race has started, (other than when racing!) as it will link this to your time. The transponders simply strap round your ankle (left or right) with the strap provided. After you have finished your ride, please continue round once more so as not to impede others still racing, it will not matter how many times you cross the finish line, as the computer will calculate 10 laps.
We will be running another race after this one on the night, so please return your numbers and transponder back to the HQ as soon as possible.
