Headquarters and Parking
Event HQ is Sharow Village Hall (approx. 5.6 miles from the start on unclassified road between Dishforth and Ripon). Signing-on sheet, numbers and results board will be in the village hall (open from 06:45). A changing area, toilets and showers are available. Refreshments are also available: please return your number here for a free drink after your ride.
There is ample parking at HQ, either on the hard standing in front of the hall or on the grass along the fence bordering the road. Please do not park in any other areas.
Do not park or drive on the cricket pitch! Do not park on the roads in the village.
Additional parking is available on the slip road leading from the A168 northbound to Asenby and Topcliffe, or in the layby on Boroughbridge Road at Kirby Hill near the start.
Riders must not park in the Dishforth area or in Rainton Lane (Police request).
No parking (except for time-keepers and officials) near the start or finish.
Important Notes
There are houses nearby the event HQ. Please keep noise to a minimum and do not disturb local residents. Remember that noise travels easily on a quiet Sunday morning!
Turbo trainers must not be used within 150yds of any occupied property. If you are parked close to housing then set up your turbo in the area near to the hall itself.
Ensure that your body number is worn below the waist where vehicles can see it.
When awaiting your start please remain in the lay-by and not on the A168 carriageway.
No U-turns in the vicinity of the start or finish.
Directions to Start
It is approximately 5.6 miles to the start so allow plenty of time to get there.
Turn left out of the car park and proceed east on Ripon Road, through Sharow village, for approximately 2.8 miles. The road then drops under the A1 and rises to a traffic island.
Turn right (2nd exit) over dual carriageway to the next traffic island where turn right (3rd exit) onto A168.
Head south on the A168, past Dishforth airfield, for approximately 2.8 miles to Kirby Hill traffic island.
Go straight across (2nd exit) and the start is in the layby on your right.
Notes:
• Riders must not cut the corners on the right turns or on the slip road at Knayton turn. Any rider reported by turn marshals may be disqualified from the event and reported to the District Committee.
• The A168 and A19 are clearways – no stopping – no parking – no u-turns. After finishing, riders must return to the event HQ.
In the interest of safety, Cycling Time Trails and the Event Promoters strongly advise that:
You wear a hard shell helmet that meets an internationally accepted standard;
A working rear light - either flashing or constant - is fitted to your machine in a position clearly visible to following road users and is active whilst the machine is in use.
